so I've decided to invest in a dremel and some metal polishing felt bobs.

Just kurious to see what's in your metail polishing tool stash.

I'll mainly be using it to polish the outer halves of my wheels.

Hehe, using a Dremel to polish the wheels will take you a LONG time. Hope you have plenty of patience. ;)

I have a Dremel with all attachments/accessories needed for polishing (not by design). Also have Pinnacle's metal polish cloths and Meguiar's professional metal polish.

I'll have to agree with that. The Dremel looks like a great idea until you start using it on a large area, then like TW85 HHI says, you'd better have a lot of patience and a lot of the felt attachments.

A more sensible approach may be the Flitz Polishing Ball or the new Mother's PowerBall:

Anyone tried these:

Flitz Polishing Ball or the new Mother's PowerBall?

How did you like? Results? Ease of use? Worth it?

Spray P21S Wheel Cleaner, this cleaner is 100% acid-free and will not damage any type of wheel finish. (Gel for badly soiled and regular for normal soil) onto wheel rims and lat soak in.

Use (Happich Semichrome Polish) for difficult to reach places use a felt polishing cone on an electric drill (Dremel or Groit's Felt Polishing Cone Set) and add a polymer for protection (Zoopseal or Klasse All-In-One)

Wheel Buffing / Refinishing Kit:

This kit from Eastwood (www.eastwood.com) provides the materials and detailed instructions needed to refinish 4 wheels, and contains one each of the following: tube of Tripoli Compound, tube of White Rouge Compound, 4" Spiral Sewn Buff with 1/2" hole, 4" Loose Section Buff with 1/2" hole, two Tapered Goblet Buffs, one Buff Mandrel, and one Wheel Arbor.

The same basic materials in that Eastwood set, especially the rogues can also be found in a good, smaller hardware store or even in Lowes in the power tool section, not far from the PCs ;) They come in nice plastic carrying tubes. Wish I knew they had them there in the first place. :(

Considered one of those poilishing balls but I figuered I would get more control with the small felt bobs. The last thing I want to do is to touch the centers with any polishing material.

Thanks for the advice TOGWT. Have any of ya'll used Zoopseal.

I still have yet to read a Autopian review on Zoopseal. Seems like over at the bikers forums, they do rave about it.

The car is a daily driver and while the wheels aren't on in the winter, even dusk/dawn condensation just settles on the wheels. I've used Klasse on them and always ended up needed to give it a quick rub with Flitz, etc to bring it back to life as water deposits were constantly showing up on the wheel halves.

The flitz Polishing bll is great, it gets about 90% of the wheel area. I have to resort to hand polishing for the rest, but the ball saves me a lot of time and effort. The results are superior to 100% hand polishing as well.

Sounds like the Flitz or Mother's ball, along with a drill and various size polishing wheels would do a nice job on an exhaust system and suspension components :up

The new Mother's PowerBall looks like a very promising product, but no reviews yet! I have Adam's Metal Polish #1 & 2 and they work wicked well on chrome by hand. I highly recommend them.

I used the Mothers power ball with chrome polish on the rims and chrome bumper., very EZ, best they ever looked.

Used it on the head lights, tail lights recessed fog lights plastic chrome grill with Mothers plastic polish was able to get in the small places and it really did the job, even in tight spots that were hard to get at by hand.

Its a great all around good tool that helps take detailing to the next level.

Ive used the Power Ball on several different wheels. It works like a charm. The ball will compress to half its size to fit through most holes, but at full size it covers a lot of surface, making it work extremely fast. The flaps of the ball will spread with pressure and reach crevices between the rim and concentric hubs. The new PowerMetal is perfect with it. The ball is easily washed for clean up.

Tip: Start out slow on the variable speed drill to prevent splatter. Increase speed slowly as you polish, after the wheel is coated with a thin layer of polish.

Powerball it is :D

I guess it will be the Powerball,I'll give the Power Metal Aluminum Polish a try and hmmmmm Flitz or Wenol ? Flitz or Wenol , autopians. Which should I add to my stash.

I'm all out on metal polish. All I have in my stash is Mothers Billets and just a smigen of Flitz left. I've had REALLY great results with Flitz on all types of metal but pricepoint, I'm not sure if the Wenol will give me more for my money.

Just need to get some cardboard to make some nice round cutouts so that the Powerball doesn't touch my clearcoated centers.

Of course Mothers Mag Polish is a long time standard. The Mothers Billet is an even finer polish. I have Mothers Mag, Billet, Chome and now Power Metal.

The only polishes other than Mothers that I use now, are some I came across a couple of years ago at the Turkey Rod Run. There are 3 different abrasive levels and Ive found all to be very good.

Mine includes: Flitz ( ought to get more), Meguiars All Metal Polish,

Mothers Billet, both the red and blue Wenol , Blue Magic ( I don't like it) I haven't gotten around to trying the Heavy Metal...yet

P21s Multi Surface Restorer is an old favorite of mine as well, need to get again some time too
